As you enter Ezcaray on the road that comes from Santo Domingo de la Calzada, if you look to the left you will see a very long building that represents an important landmark in the history of Ezcaray, it is the Royal Factory of Santa Bárbara. Founded in 1749 dedicated to the production of cloths.

After a recent restoration, this building became a hostel and also the seat of the town hall. The tradition of selling blankets, well known internationally, has remained from the historic factory. You can visit the factory where you will learn many things and you can buy blankets and also scarves and shawls. She is currently well known for her famous Mohair blankets. What you surely did not imagine is that this factory produces for brands such as Loewe, Armani, etc.

Enter and stroll through its streets, the Plaza de la Verdura and the nearby Plaza del Quiosco, where you can enjoy a unique architectural setting with its houses, streets and arcades.

During your walk you can enjoy the beautiful facades of the historical buildings, the Argolla del Fuero, which is attached to one of the columns of the arcades, the palace of Archbishop Barroeta, from 1766, located next to the aforementioned Plaza del Quiosco .

A building worth seeing is the Palace of the Angel, from 1753, which you find in front of the church of Santa María la Mayor, in the Aragonese Gothic style, built between the 12th and 16th centuries. The building of the old railway station is now a restaurant and bar with a terrace.

Gastronomy is a very important characteristic of Ezcaray. Among its dishes we must highlight some such as the caparrones, the pochas, La Rioja potatoes, the vegetable stew or the meat of the sierra. Ezcaray is also a perfect place to go for pinchos and wines.
